about us

We’re the mother and daughter team behind Ella’s Designer Yorkies.  I (mom) bred the first Yorkie I owned, Sophie, back in 2008.  I decided to breed her because I was so crazy about her, I wanted another one with her DNA.  I kept one of her pups, Romeo, and the three of us had many years of crazy Yorkie happiness together.  I got my third Yorkie, Chi Chi, in February 2020, right before the pandemic.  Once we were in lock down, we had some fabulous bonding time and she’s been our little sugar ever since.

Ella and I are big animal lovers; we have three cats and two dogs, so our puppies grow up well socialized with other animals and children.  Our other dog Luna, a chiweenie, is not a breeder, and neither is our domestic shorthair cat, Dutchess.  We hope to try breeding our two pedigree Persian cats at some point in the future, so if you’re into Persians, be sure to check back and see what we’ve got!

What sets us apart from professional breeders is that we just have one female.  We only have one litter at a time that we concentrate on.  And Yorkies have small litters — three pups per litter is average.  Professional breeders typically have several dogs and several litters going on at the same time.  That’s how you make money as a breeder and there’s not a thing wrong with it.  However, we believe we offer the advantage of more individual attention and care to our small one-at-a-time litters, that professional breeders just can’t provide when they have a dozen puppies to take care of and expectant moms at the same time that need lots of attention and care.

We might get bigger someday, but for now, our puppies are the stars of the show, and their new families are going to reap the rewards of us spoiling them and loving them pretty much 24/7.

Our Mission

Make the world a better place, one Yorkie at a time.

Our Values

Treat others the way we want to be treated.  And there’s no better treat than a Yorkie.

“Can I please keep one?”
Says Ella, about a week after each litter is born.
